Abstract
This article has as a problem identifying the main challenges encountered by leaders in the
public administration in a city in the interior of Paraná, having as its main base the
authors Robert D. Behn, Idalberto Chiavenato and Vera Cavalcanti, in order to understand
the main challenges that leaders in a city in the interior of Paraná face in their
management, being applied a questionnaire with the secretaries of such municipality, it seeks to verify the challenges identified by them, thus making the research relevant to understand if such
challenges are differentiated from private management, as much is said about it and little attention is given the public management, bringing the subject to academic interest for future research. Finally, the results achieved demonstrate the challenges of training employees,
too many leaders and too little task delegation to subordinates.
