Abstract
This article seeks to understand the contemporary phenomenon of Fake News, which emerged with technological advances and are propagated through the internet. For that, a literature review was carried out where there was a direct analysis of the historicity and the concept of Fake News; means and modes of propagation of Fake News; the main causes of Fake News; its impacts on the media and freedom of expression; bill for the fight against Fake News in Brazil; the impact of untrue news in the political sphere. To this end, the article, through the deductive method, makes a reading of Fake News through the lens of the repertoire concept of political confrontation and argues how some of the antidotes can avoid them. Through the study carried out, it was possible to verify that the dissemination of false information generated a great impact on the social and electoral aspect, since these are disseminated with extreme ease due to the way they expose the news. In view of the above, although there is no total eradication of Fake News, as they will always exist, the present study has the scope to warn voters when making decisions to elect their candidate.
