Abstract
The impairment of the functional capacity of the elderly has some consequences for the world around them and for the health system of the elderly. Since this inability causes greater dependence in old age, contributing to a decrease in the well-being and quality of life of this population. It is extremely important to assess the physical capacity of the elderly in order to develop the best training plan for them. Objective: to verify how functional training improves the physical capacity of the elderly. Methods: Elderly people who practice physical activity will be evaluated. To assess aerobic capacity, we will use the 6-minute walk test. For the evaluation of lower limb strength, the sit and stand test will be used. For the evaluation of functional mobility, the Timed up and Go test will be applied. For the assessment of flexibility, the sit and reach test will be applied. Results: Given the above, it is possible to conclude that a supervised functional training program, carried out twice a week by the elderly who were evaluated, managed to improve at least in most capacities after a month of functional training. Conclusion: With the positive results of the evaluation of the elderly, it is concluded that the practice of physical activity is really important in all stages of life, especially in the 3rd age to maintain their daily activities.
