Abstract
The present work establishes an analysis of the legal situation of people with monocular visual impairment before and after the advent of Law 14,126/2021 and the consequences generated within the scope of Social Security Law in its administrative and legal spheres. Its aim is to interpret current legislation, which still uses a retrograde concept when referring to people with disabilities. It is demonstrated, firstly, that a medical concept based on physical limitations is used, subsequently, it adopted the social model in which the focus was the social oppression suffered by this group of people and finally, the model currently used which is called biopsychosocial concept. Given the circumstances described, the main focus is to analyze the evolution of social protection granted to people with disabilities and in particular to people with monocular vision with regard to the granting of social security benefits for special retirements and assistance benefits. In this research, the deductive method of reasoning and bibliographic review are used.
